Using the same principle that lets a QLED TV turn a blue backlight into a pure white light using red and green quantum dots, a QD-OLED panel uses just blue OLED material as the basis of each pixel.
Luminous flux is measured in lumen and is the light power measured multiplied with the V-λ scaling function which compensates for the human eye’s sensitivity to different wavelengths. The luminous flux of LEDs is largely governed by the current flowing through the device. Fig. 1 shows a typical curve characteristic of an LED (luminous flux
phosphor screen by means of high voltage grids. An image (raster) is displayed by scanning the electron beam across the screen. Since the phosphor’s luminance begins to fade after a short time, the image needs to be refreshed continu-ally. In order to eliminate flicker, most monitors refresh the screen at a 60 Hz rate.
Plasma display panels (PDPs) are viewed as a promising innovation for large, flat TV displays. In this manner, many major electronics organizations are directing their focus on PDPs, and large-scale manufacturing has already begun. The principle of light generation in a PDP is described in several textbooks [110 ].
